The future appears bright for our three-year-old colt THE GRANDSON after a stylish win at Kembla Grange on Saturday.
Second-up over 1400 metres after going down narrowly over the same course and distance a fortnight ago, THE GRANDSON sprinted sharply from near the tail of the eight-horse field to win by a length under Mitchell Bell.
With the maiden win now out of the way, trainer John Thompson has elected to spell the horse with a view to returning in time for an Australian Derby preparation.
The son of Savabeel is out of a half-sister to a stakes winner and is an imposing individual, purchased for $140k at the 2015 Karaka Sales in New Zealand.
THE GRANDSON was Proven Thoroughbreds’ 18th winner for the calendar year.
