Consistent gelding THATFEELSBETTER once again showed his liking for the 1000m course at the Sunshine Coast with another victory on Friday night.
Four weeks after a fresh-up third at Eagle Farm, THATFEELSBETTER swept down the outside to claim the Class 4 event, his third win over the track and distance from just five attempts which also includes a second to subsequent Group winner PRINCE OF BOOM.
Prepared by co-trainers Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted, THATFEELSBETTER started second favourite behind stablemate SHALAA’S MOMENT but made the most of an uninterrupted run in the home straight to defeat HARDWARE LANE in the shadows of the post while SHALAA’S MOMENT weaved a passage into third.
“The speed was a lot more genuine than I anticipated which set up the race really nicely for him,” winning rider Boris Thornton said post-race.
“He was able to roll into the race under his own steam and kept his momentum going.
“All credit to him, he showed he was a class above his opposition tonight.”
An $80,000 yearling from Lyndhurst Stud’s draft at Magic Millions Gold Coast 2020, THATFEELSBETTER enhanced his record to four wins and six placings from 17 starts, for prizemoney totalling $141,550.
He becomes Proven Thoroughbreds’ 44th winner for the calendar year and 7th for season 2023-24.
