Emerging mare TERMAGANT took another step forward in her burgeoning career with a narrow though meritorious victory at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Tackling 1200m and Class 6 company for the first time, the daughter of DEEP FIELD enjoyed a cosy run throughout from the one alley, before dashing clear in the straight and clinging on to just prevail.
“She showed her class today,” trainer Matt Hoysted opined after the race.
“This filly revealed how tractable she can be, holding a position much closer to the pace and running out a strong 1200m.”

In her previous four wins, the 4yo had unleashed impressive sprints from midfield or worse over short courses. With a record that now reads 5-3-0 from only 9 starts, TERMAGANT now looks poised to test the waters in stakes company next preparation.
A $260,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Kia Ora Stud, she’s just the second and sadly final foal of the quality Proven racemare CANDIKA who died the following year.
Proven’s winner tally for 24/25 has now climbed to 33 with Saturday’s victory.
