TERMAGANT took the rise to Saturday metropolitan company in her stride with her third victory from only four career starts at the rescheduled Caloundra Cup meeting on Sunday.

Starting a warm favourite in the 1000m 3YO Handicap, TERMAGANT made the most of a 52kg featherweight in the heavy (9) conditions to score by a neck.

The Matt Hoysted and Steve O’Dea-trained filly was afforded plenty of galloping room in a three-wide with cover position before launching her challenge in the straight.

“Another really good performance from this girl. She’s building an imposing record now,” Hoysted said.

“She’s taken another step up in grade in convincing fashion.

“I was a little bit concerned pre-race. She got worked up and was sweating pre-race – I think that month between runs worked against us – so for her to still win adds even more merit to the performance.”

“She’s definitely a filly going places and will only keep improving with more racing.”

TERMAGANT has been expertly placed in her career thus far, which has seen her progress from maiden company to Saturday class in the space of four runs.

The daughter of DEEP FIELD first revealed above-average ability in a five-length thrashing earlier this year over the same course and distance as last Sunday’s event.

She is the second foal out of former Proven Thoroughbreds stakes winner CANDIKA who sadly passed away in 2022. CANDIKA gave her ownership group some great thrills and many of her former owners are now in the ownership of TERMAGANT.

Proven went to $260,000 to secure TERMAGANT at the 2022 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale from Kia Ora Stud with whom we race this filly in partnership.

Proven’s winners for the season has climbed to 54 of which 24 have been in metropolitan company.
