Well bred filly TERANGA showed a great will to win at Doomben on Saturday, confirming winter carnival stakes targets.

By the late SEBRING from Queensland Oaks winner TINTO, TERANGA relished a genuine tempo over the 1615m to score in thrilling fashion.

The Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted-trained 3YO was strung up for a run in the early part of the straight but when switched back to the rails by apprentice Jaden Lloyd, she shot through to overhaul CRYMENOTEARS by half a length.

It was a most impressive win considering she only had clear running from the 200m mark and all the momentum was with the outside horse.

With the QTIS fillies prizemoney bonus, TERANGA took her total earnings to $110,900 from just three starts.

Proven Thoroughbreds is set to have a strong hand in the Listed Princess Stakes (1600m) back at Doomben on April 23, with TERANGA a chance to join another exciting last start winner in CANADIAN DANCER.

It is a race Proven has previously won with CANDIKA in 2017.

Congratulations to all of TERANGA’s owners, including Eureka Stud who bred and sold her to us at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Proven’s tally of winners for the season has now climbed to 46.
