The Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted-trained TAKE A BOW made the perfect start to her career with a devastating win at Gatton on Saturday.
Settling sixth in a 10-horse field, the daughter of emerging sire ROYAL MEETING saved ground along the rail and coming to the turn jockey Emily Lang had a lap full of horse while her rivals were clearly beginning to tire.
After a few anxious moments a run appeared hard up against the fence but just as it did race favourite JUST CLIFFY also broke through.
As quickly as the race looked under threat, TAKE A BOW ($3) stormed clear to post a brilliant 3.5L win over JUST CLIFFY ($2.8) with another 1.3L to FORCEFILLY ($5) in third.
They stopped the clock at 50.04 for the 860m – faster than the 3YO Maiden in the following race.

“She was off pace and held up for about 50 per cent of the last 600m and the field has clocked 33.73,” times analyst Nic Ashman said.
“On a good track she’ll go close to breaking 33, which is low flying for any horse. Exciting times ahead for her owners.”
TAKE A BOW was a $40,000 yearling purchase from the Bell River Thoroughbreds draft at the 2023 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale. Courtesy of the lucrative QTIS fillies bonuses, she banked a healthy $27,950 for her maiden victory – more than double the amount of prizemoney a non-QTIS runner would have earned.
Only moments before TAKE A BOW’s win, another Proven Thoroughbreds filly – IN FLIGHT – got the cash at Rosehill. The quick-fire double brought up 50 winners for us this season.
