The John Thompson-trained TAHSIN made light work of a Hawkesbury maiden in his fourth career start on Sunday.
Time is one of, if not the most under-rated commodity when it comes to a racehorse’s development.
And TAHSIN, a late maturing four-year-old gelding, rewarded his patient owners with a two-length win.
The race was a slowly run affair but rider Tye Angland ensured the horse had plenty of galloping room around the tight Hawkesbury track, improving three wide before taking over proceedings soon after the field straightened.
TAHSIN’s inexperience was evident in the home straight as he was inclined to run about but the authority of the win was clear for all to see.
He has a lovely long striding action, and given that he is out of a MONTJEU mare, there’s every reason to believe he could evolve into a middle-distance/staying type.
TAHSIN was Proven Thoroughbreds’ 23rd winner for the calendar year.
