Four-year-old gelding Lothario has quickly adapted to his new surroundings in Queensland, winning at Eagle Farm on Wednesday.
Previously trained by Joe Pride at Warwick Farm, Lothario was sent north to join the Steve O’Dea stable after two wins in Sydney provincial company.
Proven Thoroughbreds has the luxury of being associated with premier metropolitan trainers in both Sydney and Brisbane which allows for horses to make easy transitions between states.
Lothario arrived in Queensland at the end of last month before defeating 11 rivals in the 1600m class 3 event.
Ridden by Paul Hammersley, Lothario overcame an awkward start to position three pairs back one off the fence.
The son of Nicconi came down the outside in the straight before crossing the line 1-1/4 lengths clear of the runner-up.
Lothario was Proven Thoroughbreds’ 19th winner for the calendar year.
