In his third run back from a 12-month lay-off, Proven Thoroughbreds’ SIR MOMENTS scored a typical win at Doomben on Saturday.
SIR MOMENTS took up his customary position at the tail of the field in the 1350-metre Open Handicap before swooping down the outside with 60.5kg to win by three-quarters of a length.
Paul Hammersley rode the horse perfectly, saving him for one last shot at his rivals in what was a fast run contest.
Trainer Steve O’Dea has big plans for SIR MOMENTS in the upcoming Queensland winter carnival including a second attempt at the Group II Hollindale Stakes (1800m), which he ran second in last year, before being set for either the Group I Doomben Cup (2000m) or Group I Stradbroke Handicap (1400m).
SIR MOMENTS’ latest victory took his career earnings past $725,000 from 21 starts.
