PARTY FOR TWO’s victory in Saturday’s $500,000 QTIS 3YO Jewel at the Gold Coast further endorsed the half-brother Proven Thoroughbreds purchased last month.

PARTY FOR TWO stopped the clock in 1.08:44, the fastest of three 1200m races on the day and almost five lengths faster than benchmark for this grade.

Perhaps the most significant element of the filly’s victory was her ability to win at 1200m first-up. Her previous peak rating was at 1000m where she scorched the turf at Eagle Farm clocking 56.8 for the 1000m, smashing the 3YO Open benchmark by five lengths.
“She always displayed high speed. We saw that when she contested the Blue Diamond series during her 2YO season,” times analyst Nic Ashman said.
“She ran second in the Prelude clocking a blistering 10.32 between the 800m and 600m but there was always that small concern she didn’t want much further than 1000m.
“However, in her first run back as an autumn three-year-old she’s run slick time from the front over 1200m.
“It’s indicative of a more seasoned horse that can sustain a sprint for longer and bodes well for her future.
“That performance was enough to convince me to buy a share – my first with Proven Thoroughbreds.”
That future is likely to include a crack at the Listed Mick Dittman Plate (1100m) at Eagle Farm on April 27. A stakes victory would not only enhance her value but would make our ASTERN colt even more appealing.
