Our resident form analyst Nic Ashman is expecting a filly to win the Australian Derby for the first time since SHAMROCKER in 2011.

ROSEHILL R9 N18 AELIANA

“Fourth-up and won her only run at this stage of last prep. Has taken on the best 3YO colts in the land all 3 runs this prep and held her own,” Ashman said.

“Last start finished a narrow 2nd at her first go over 2000m behind BROADSIDING. No doubt she should’ve won the G1 Rosehill Guineas. Her late splits there were strong and indicative of a natural stayer.”

“There’s no BROADSIDING or SWIFTFALCON here. She is the class and we expect it to prevail.”

The top price around for AELIANA as at Friday afternoon was $3.10.

Nic’s tips are striking at 56% since the beginning of last year with 20 collects from 36 selections.
