MOONFLEET justified a betting plunge when breaking her maiden at Doomben on Wednesday.
The daughter of BOLT D’ORO was backed from $4.60 into $3.10 before the gates crashed back for the 1350m contest.
She settled 3rd in running and covered ground but did enough on the line to beat TRAPEDO ($13) by 0.1L with 1.6L to AUTUMNATION ($2.25) clocking 1.20:32.

“We began really well but she did it quite tough because we were wide for longer than I thought we’d be,” winning hoop Emily Lang said.
“Coming around the corner I let her go through her gears and she let down nicely. She was putting in a few short ones at the end but that was a tough win.”
Lang has played an integral role as apprentice jockey for the Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted stable so it was very satisfying to see her efforts rewarded with her first metropolitan win.
MOONFLEET will go for a well-deserved spell now. The filly was a $55,000 yearling purchase from the Mill Park Stud draft at the 2022 Adelaide Magic Millions Sale.
Wednesday’s victory at Doomben was our 23rd for 2024 with our prizemoney now totalling more than $1.7million.
