A busy month on the sales circuit saw Proven Thoroughbreds acquire a further seven yearlings to its 2022 portfolio.
A pair of fillies bound for the Joe Pride stable were purchased from the NZ Karaka Sale, which was rescheduled from its usual January slot due to COVID.
Then at the Adelaide Magic Millions Sale, where Proven’s pin-up horse PRIVATE EYE was bought three years ago, another five yearlings were added to the team (three for Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted, one for Joe Pride and one for Kerry Parker.
The third sale in March was the Magic Millions QTIS Sale on the Gold Coast where we reinforced our faith in the state’s leading sire SPIRIT OF BOOM with two of his fillies purchased for the O’Dea-Hoysted partnership.

The next major yearling auction is the Inglis Easter catalogue from April 5-6 which will likely mark the conclusion of Proven’s business in the sale ring for 2022.

US NAVY FLAG x POLYANTHA filly (NZ) **POPULAR**

KEY FACTORS
- Attractive, scopey filly out of a five-time winning son of ENCOSTA DE LAGO – one of the best sires and broodmare sires of the modern era.
- Sire was a champion European sprinter by WAR FRONT (same sire as Melbourne Cup winning sire DECLARATION OF WAR). Also became the first horse to conquer the Middle Park-Dewhurst double since 1982!
- First foal from the dam is a four-time winner by failed stallion CAPE BLANCO. This is the third foal and in a show of faith from the breeders, POLYANTHA went back to U S NAVY FLAG in 2021.
- Stakes winners all down the page including recent Flemington Group winner ANNAVISTO.

- Of the 14 foals to race from the first two dams, 13 are winners and 7 are stakes performers including former Proven Thoroughbreds/Pride Racing gelding TAMARACK.
