Three winners from as many starters completed a perfect Saturday for Proven Thoroughbreds and the O’Dea-Hoysted juggernaut.
The co-trainers’ unstoppable form has been well documented this season, but recent results have elevated the stable to even greater heights.
From their last 50 runners, 21 have returned to the winners’ stall, equating to an extraordinary 42% strike rate.
The first of Saturday’s trio came at the Gold Coast but only after an upheld protest promoted the debutante TERANGA from 2nd to 1st.
TERANGA’s rider Michael Hellyer was forced to change course over the concluding stages of the 1400m maiden due to the favourite IMMEDIATE RESPONSE shifting ground, and given the margin was only 0.1 lengths, stewards accordingly reversed the placings.
A daughter of SEBRING, TERANGA is the second foal from Queensland Oaks winning mare TINTO.
Then at Doomben, RICH LISTER (pictured) resumed with an emphatic 2.75 length victory over 1110m, marking her first Saturday metropolitan success.
The 4YO mare has now won three of her last four outings and Saturday’s performance was clearly the best of her career as she sliced through a gap at the 200m mark and raced away from her opposition.
Another mare, OCEAN TREATY iced the day when proving too strong second-up over 1615m. The daughter of OCEAN PARK is building an imposing record with six wins from 14 starts. Rider Ben Thompson has been aboard in four of those victories.
A big congratulations to all the staff at the O’Dea-Hoysted yard, your efforts day-in and day-out make results like these possible and Proven Thoroughbreds is very fortunate to be the beneficiary.
Saturday’s treble took our seasonal tally of winners to 39, and eight for the calendar year.
