IN FLIGHT’s third win from her previous four starts was described as “the performance of the day” at Rosehill on Saturday.

That’s how times analyst Nic Ashman summarised IN FLIGHT’s ($3.40) victory in the BM72 1100m contest where she beat DISNECK ($11) by 0.8L with 0.2L to EYE OF THE FYRE ($5) in third.

“She has beaten the class benchmark by 4.8L and run her last 600m in 34.28 which is 10.9L faster than average for this grade,” Ashman said.

“When these mares get into form on wet tracks in winter they are hard to stop and there’s little reason to think that will change with her. She’s flying.”

After settling fourth in the run, the daughter of FLYING ARTIE emerged as the one to beat halfway up the straight with Jay Ford commenting post-race that she is relishing these wet conditions.

“That’s two wins on the trot both over 1100m and both on wet tracks,” Ford said.

“She’s attacking the line in the manner of a horse that is enjoying her racing.”

The 3yo filly currently leads the NSW BOBS bonuses premiership and trainer Joe Pride is planning to give her the opportunity to cement that title with another start before season’s end on July 31.

IN FLIGHT was a $220,000 yearling purchase from Goodwood Farm’s draft at the 2022 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale. Her last two victories alone have seen her bank $210,000 in prizemoney for connections.

IN FLIGHT was the first leg of a Saturday double for Proven Thoroughbreds as moments later debutante TAKE A BOW got the cash at Gatton. And with that double, Proven’s tally of winners for the season climbed to 50.
