A Proven Thoroughbreds double formed part of a Saturday bonanza for trainer Matt Hoysted.

Across the 21 races held at Eagle Farm and the Gold Coast, Hoysted saddled up a winning treble, a quinella and another two placegetters at cricket score odds.

The clear highlight was HEARTS ARE BETTER’s domination of the $500,000 QTIS 3YO Jewel when leading throughout and winning by 1.5 lengths for Nikita Beriman.

Hoysted can now lay claim to back to back 3YO Jewel races, having won last year’s edition with PARTY FOR TWO. He also won the 2YO event with SHE’SGOTTHEBOOM in 2022.

Proven’s pair of winners began with TOWN CRIER in race three at the Gold Coast where victory earned him $85,400 courtesy of the QTIS promotion that doubled the winning prizemoney cheque.

Having won his previous start when first-up at Doomben, TOWN CRIER is in a rich vein of form with four victories from his last seven outings.

A $160,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling from Emirates Park, the 4yo son of SPIRIT OF BOOM is well into the black with career earnings now just shy of $220,000.

Then in the final race at Eagle Farm, another SPIRIT BOOM 4yo – HEYOKA – defeated stablemate BUCK’S FIZZ by 1.4 lengths.

Partnered by apprentice Cody Collis, HEYOKA enjoyed a sweet run in the box seat before coming off heels in the straight and surging away to register her fourth career win from nine starts.

The mare was a $60,000 Magic Millions March QTIS yearling from Kenmore Lodge’s draft.

HEYOKA and TOWN CRIER elevated Proven’s tally of winners for the season to 36 with prizemoney now surpassing the $3 million mark.
