GOTTA KISS and her merry band of owners were provided a life-changing result at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale this week.

It was January 2019 when Proven bid to $150,000 to secure a small chestnut filly by NOT A SINGLE DOUBT at the Magic Millions Gold Coast complex, where she appropriately returned to be sold as a mother on Tuesday.

But none of us could have imagined that she would fetch $800,000! Ray Gall, husband of one of the filly’s original part-owners, held the winning bid.

In a relatively brief race career, GOTTA KISS consistently performed at a high level, winning a trio of 2YO races and placing in four stakes races, including a brilliant 2nd to ROTHFIRE in last year’s Group 1 JJ Atkins. Her 14 starts yielded $485,850 in prizemoney.

So in a period of just two and a half years, GOTTA KISS netted more than $1.1 million for her owners.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank co-trainers Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted and all their staff, jockey Stephanie Thornton (pictured), Kenmore Lodge for their meticulous preparation of GOTTA KISS for sale and Yarraman Park for breeding and racing this outstanding filly with us.

The GOTTA KISS journey has now come full circle, with the rising 4YO returning to her place of birth at Yarraman Park where she is likely to be served by the country’s leading stallion I AM INVINCIBLE this spring.

Fortunately, Proven will remain connected with GOTTA KISS’s family having purchased the half-sister by I AM INVINCIBLE last year, now named LIKE A KISS. The 2YO filly is currently in work with Steve and Matt at Eagle Farm and could progress to a trial during the winter.

Two other Proven Thoroughbreds mares went through the sale ring this week; the unraced KYOTO MOON (in foal to HELLBENT) selling to Vinery Stud for $100,000 and three-time city winner INVIGORATING selling to Canning Downs for $45,000.

KYOTO MOON’s owners recouped the filly’s sale price as a yearling while INVIGORATING earned her owners $132,000, having won $162,550 on the track after selling for $75,000 as a yearling.
