The Steve O’Dea-trained COOL SEQUENCE was unperturbed by the heaviest of surfaces when victorious at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.
With blinkers on for the first time, the five-year-old gelding bounded out of the barriers to sit outside the lead in the 1200m Class 2 event.
Apprentice rider Boris Thornton still had a strong hold of COOL SEQUENCE at the top of the straight and the chestnut quickly hit the front before ploughing through the heavy (10) conditions to a half-length win.
Stablemate and fellow Proven Thoroughbreds galloper EVERYDAY LADY also did an excellent job to run third first-up on the most rain-affected track of her short career.
Our other Sunshine Coast runner was RECKLESS CHOICE in the 1200m Maiden. The son of CHOISIR finished three-quarters of a length from the winner in third.
COOL SEQUENCE represented Proven Thoroughbreds’ ninth winner for 2018 and 34th for the season.
