Promising three-year-old COOL SEQUENCE broke his maiden at the Sunshine Coast on Friday night but not before a few nervous moments in the straight.

COOL SEQUENCE, trained by Steve O’Dea, started a dominant favourite in the Litigation QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate (1200m) following an encouraging second placing to the talented Havasay at the Gold Coast last month.

The son of SEQUALO travelled between runners behind the speed before jockey Brad Pengelly manoeuvred the gelding into clear running in the straight.

COOL SEQUENCE was all at sea once he saw daylight, racing waywardly while the leader had seeming stole a winning break on the field.

But once he was challenged to his outside, he picked up and managed to reel in the leader on the inside to win narrowly.

Though still very green, COOL SEQUENCE has a competitive streak that will stand him in good stead as he progresses through the grades.

COOL SEQUENCE is closely related to Guy’s former champion mare APPEARANCE.
