CANADIAN DANCER will chase some valuable black type later this month after an explosive win at Ipswich’s midweek meeting.
Returning from a freshen-up, the Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted-trained CANADIAN DANCER started a warm favourite in the 1350m BM65 Handicap and duly saluted for her backers, albeit with some nervous moments.
The daughter of VANCOUVER was held up until the final 100m when apprentice Jaden Lloyd sent the filly through a narrow gap and pounced on the leader, in an impressive display of acceleration. The winning margin was a length.
The Listed Princess Stakes (1600m), a race Proven Thoroughbreds won in 2017 with CANDIKA, is now the target for CANADIAN DANCER, whose record now reads two wins and three placings from just five starts.
We are also hoping TERANGA – due to race at Doomben on Saturday – can represent the Proven-O’Dea/Hoysted team in the black type event for 3YO fillies.
CANADIAN DANCER was a $50k yearling from Vinery Stud at the 2020 Inglis Premier Sale.
She becomes our 45th winner for the season and 14th since January 1.
