Which yearlings have caught the eye of our breakers this year?
Horse breakers are highly skilled and experienced horsemen, entrusted with shaping thoroughbreds at their most malleable.
It is the first and most crucial stage of a budding racehorse’s career and can reveal valuable insights into their responsiveness, intelligence, fluidity of movement and temperament.
This week we asked our breakers to select one of our available yearlings that appealed most to them.
Peter McMahon (Kolora Lodge)
“I have broken in many horses for Proven Thoroughbreds over the years and this year, one that really stood out to me was the CAPITALIST x TENANT’S TIARA filly. She was a real professional and just kept improving all the way through her breaking. She’s in her second prep with us now and I couldn’t be happier with the way she has matured and gone on. To me, she feels a horse that will get up and run early. Very classy filly.”

Daniel Robinson (DPR)
“I really like how the SHAMUS AWARD x CONTAINMENT filly adapted during the start of her education with us. She has a bit of spark but was happy to leave it behind to concentrate on her work. For her to do so tells me she’s enjoying her work and would like to think if she carries on enjoying her trackwork, she will give her all come race day.”

Cameron Bond (Kenmore Lodge)
“The ZOUSTAR x HISTORY REPEATS colt gave me the feel of a nice horse from day one. When I was riding him, it felt like I was on a water ski on the back of a motorboat – he was just carrying me so effortlessly. He’s impressed everyone else who has ridden him too, so I think he has plenty of racetrack potential.”
