The rapidly improving BOARD MEMBER showed her rivals a clean pair of heels for the third consecutive start on Saturday.

Having won her previous two starts at Toowoomba, BOARD MEMBER ventured to a sweltering Beaudesert in search of a hat-trick in the 1200m Class 2 event, and left with a new track record.

In fact, her time of 1:08.33 smashed a 22-year old record by 0.59 seconds.

Winning jockey Simon Miller said the 4yo mare gave him a “beautiful” ride, leading from pillar to post…a far cry from the waywardness she had displayed earlier in her career.

“She’s racing in a rich vein of form this mare,” Miller said.

“Now that she’s switching off, who knows where she can get to?”

BOARD MEMBER held a margin of three lengths on the line to runner-up GRAND CRUSADER, with another 1.8 lengths back to the third placegetter HIDDEN MELODY.

BOARD MEMBER’s evolution from a highly strung filly to a tractable mare is testament to Matt Hoysted’s training and all of the work put in by his staff behind the scenes.

Admittedly, some very astute placement has no doubt assisted BOARD MEMBER in her winning streak but the manner in which she has been racing would suggest there is scope for her to become a genuine city class galloper.
