BOARD MEMBER made it back to back wins when leading all the way at Toowoomba on Saturday night.
The daughter of CAPITALIST clocked the fastest last 400m and 200m of the race when she broke her maiden over 1000m last month.
However there was some trepidation about stretching her brilliance to 1200m in the BM60 Handicap.
“1200m was no issue, she jumped relaxed and gave me a beautiful ride the whole way,” jockey Simon Miller commented post race.
It was hard to argue with the hoop given BOARD MEMBER ($3.60) had 2.5L to spare over HARRY THE HORSE ($7.50) with NEW YORK GAL ($4.40) another 0.5L away in third.
Trainer Matt Hoysted was glowing in his appraisal for the four-year-old.
“We were going into tonight’s run with a few question marks,” he said.
“She was going up to 1200m with a gap between runs but she handled it all with absolute ease.
“The team said she was hardly blowing when she came back to the stalls.
“In time I think we can definitely consider getting her out to even further. We’ll look to find a suitable race in three weeks’ time.”
BOARD MEMBER was purchased from Newgate Farm’s draft at the 2022 Magic Millions Yearling Sale. She cost $130,000 and was our 56th winner for 2024.
