ROTHESAY gelding BEAU DANCER had his consistency finally rewarded with a maiden-breaking win at the Sunshine Coast on Friday.

Four consecutive minor placings preceded BEAU DANCER’s first career victory, including an agonising defeat at Grafton earlier this month when missing the start as an odds-on favourite before flashing home to miss by the barest of margins.

The Steve O’Dea-trained four-year-old was again a short-price commodity with bookmakers on Friday afternoon but got the job done despite drawing the outside barrier of 10.

Jockey Paul Hammersley allowed BEAU DANCER top find his feet and get cover during the middle stages of the 1000m dash before emerging down the outside to score by a long neck.

Of Proven Thoroughbreds’ 12 winners this calendar year, the O’Dea stable has been responsible for seven.
