It was Proven Thoroughbreds and John Thompson again to the fore at Karaka on Wednesday with the acquisition of a powerhouse CAPE BLANCO filly.

The first foal from winning mare Pineapple, this filly has a lovely big girth and strong hindquarters. She was also a great mover.

Pineapple is a half-sister to the stakes winner MANAPINE (by MANHATTAN RAIN).

Listed as lot 458 on the NZB Select Yearling Sale book, the filly was knocked down for a bargain price of $40k.

CAPE BLANCO’s oldest progeny are only two-year-olds but his offspring have been mostly well received in the opening days of the Karaka sales, selling at an average price of $87.7k with five lots exceeding $100k.
