CHOISIR filly MY SHAMANA resumed from a spell in emphatic style at Ipswich on Australia Day.

The Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted-trained 3YO caught the eye in two runs last preparation before triumphing first-up in Wednesday’s 1200m Fillies & Mares Maiden Handicap.

Boris Thornton was handed the reins and expertly navigated from an awkward barrier to travel one off the fence midfield.

MY SHAMANA made the most of the dream run and loomed ominously on the home turn before swiftly taking over and racing clear for a one-length victory.

“Really happy with this filly today,” Thornton said.

“She travelled really strongly into the home turn and I was pretty confident I had the runners in front of me covered so I bided my time and just let her go through her gears and she ran away from them.”

MY SHAMANA was purchased by Proven Thoroughbreds for $90k from the draft of Element Hill at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

She becomes our second winner for the year and 33rd for the 2021-22 season.
