Following a very narrow and unlucky defeat a fortnight prior at the same track, COLUMBIA BLUE made amends in the 1200m BM78 at Rosehill Saturday.
The attractive son of YES YES YES, relished the heavy ground to surge clear in the closing stages after an intelligent ride by leading hoop Nash Rawiller.
Jumping from nine of 10 around the tricky horseshoe circuit, Rawiller manoeuvered the four year-old into a lovely trailing position midfield before launching his bid in the straight.

“I gave him a couple with the stick and was actually a little disappointed in his response,” he confessed in the winner’s circle.
“Then under hands and heels he seemed to find more despite having a tendency to get his head to one side.
“He really travelled like a 1400m horse and feels like he has a lot more to give.”
That will be welcome news to his happy band of owners who have cheered the gelding to a quartet of wins from just eight starts, a rare but impressive 50% win strike rate that now includes a Saturday triumph.
For trainer Joe Pride, the victory capped a very productive July that has seen the stable saddle eight winners in 14 days!

The Pride stable has no extravagant plans for the rising five-year-old, other than to continue to campaign through the winter months when wet tracks prevail.
