The Group 1 All Aged Stakes headlines the Sydney autumn carnival finale this Saturday and our form analyst Nic Ashman has compiled historical stats, sectional data and tips for each race.

The All Aged Stakes has assembled a field of 14 with Australian Guineas winner, SOUTHPORT TYCOON, one of three 3YOs in the WFA feature.

The Champagne Stakes has attracted a small but quality field of 8 with Sires Produce winner MANAAL looking to become the 15th 2YO from 33 attempts at completing the Sires Produce – Champagne Stakes double.

TRACKWALKER INFO

“Should be a good day to make ground but not necessarily right out wide. Lane 1 should prove inferior with the best ground in lanes 5 to 9.”

NIC ASHMAN ALL AGED TIP

“The Australian Guineas was a high rating race with SOUTHPORT TYCOON beating VEIGHT & RIFF ROCKET. It’s proven to be a good form race with both placegetters since winning three Group 1 races from 4 starts. One of those wins was VEIGHT in the George Ryder Stakes – a WFA 1500m that is the most similar to the All Aged Stakes of any Group 1 in the Sydney autumn. Jamie Kah has been to Sydney twice during the week to ride him in trials, where he has looked very sharp boasting some of the best late sectionals of each set of trials. He gets the nod on top with CHAIN OF LIGHTNING $9.50, PRIVATE EYE $10 and AIRMAN $41 all coming out shorter on our database based on a dry track.”

NIC ASHMAN CHAMPAGNE STAKES TIP

“MANAAL produced the best late splits of the race in the Golden Slipper and then took that impressive hidden performance to the Sires and won handsomely. But there was little evidence she would be suited over 1600m as the Sires was a slowly run affair where acceleration was the key asset. LINEBACKER runs time from the front, the right attributes to bring a horse like MANAAL undone. Take him to win and double down on a Quinella with ANODE, who will ride the speed with him.”
