ALABAMA SHOWDOWN enhanced his record to two wins and three placings from just six starts in Sunday’s Mollymook Cup at Nowra.
On a 10-day turnaround from his 2nd placing over 1100m at Hawkesbury, the 4yo gelding relished the 1200m and defeated the much more experienced ZOUKERINO in a stirring battle down the home stretch.
Alysha Collett, who has been aboard in ALABAMA SHOWDOWN’s last three starts, had him perfectly positioned turning for home and the result was a narrow (0.4 lengths) though decisive victory.

“He had to race against some tougher, older heads today but still got the job done,” trainer Joe Pride said.
“It’s still very early in his racing career and there are some promising signs there.
“I’d like to think we can still get another two or three runs out of him this preparation too.”
ALABAMA SHOWDOWN, a son of ALABAMA EXPRESS from the TORONADO mare OUR RANSOM STAR, was purchased for $80,000 from Noorilim Park’s draft at the 2024 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
He is Proven Thoroughbreds’ sixth winner for season 2026-27.
