Four-year-old gelding REAL STING registered a dominant win in his first run since August at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
REAL STING proved a class above his 11 rivals by circling the field from a clear last position to win eased up by 1-1/4 lengths on the line.
The son of Real Saga, out of a High Chaparral mare, has been a late maturing type for the Steve O’Dea stable but Saturday’s performance was one which his patient owners derived great enjoyment.
Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of the win was the 1200 metre distance of the race, a journey well short of his best having won over a mile and placed at 2200 metres.
Proven Thoroughbreds was recently at the Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale where five horses were acquired for O’Dea.
