Viewing races can be a roller coaster with joy and despair the parameters. Venturing to both ends of the emotional spectrum is not a common occurrence but that was the experience watching TAKE A BOW’s last to first triumph at the Sunshine Coast Sunday.

Devoid of luck in four runs since winning at Gatton on debut back in the winter, the daughter of ROYAL MEETING was slightly tardy away and then held up in traffic for a significant part of the straight in a steadily run affair.

Rider Justin Stanley eventually manoeuvred the filly into clear running and she unleashed a sharp turn of foot to get up in the shadows of the post in the 3yo BM65 contest.

Trainer Matt Hoysted echoed the view of the ownership group in expressing “relief” as well as delight at the well deserved victory, her first over 1200m.

“Not much really went our way in the run but the fact she was still able to come out on top is just so pleasing after what’s been such a frustrating campaign,” said Matt.

“She’s been going so well at home and we just haven’t been able to see that in racetrack performance but the writing was on the wall after her last run and thankfully she’s been able to get the job done.”

TAKE A BOW collected a healthy $31,350 prizemoney for the provincial win, courtesy of the bonuses on offer for QTIS fillies, which stacks up very well against her $40,000 purchase price at the 2023 Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

It was the Hoysted stable’s fourth win over the last fortnight in the Proven colours and put the polish on an excellent weekend that saw TOWN CRIER get the money and NAVAL TRADER just pipped at Doomben Saturday.

With a big team nominated for Saturday at Eagle Farm and the promising ROCK THE SUNRISE set to line up at Doomben Wednesday, there’s a decent chance the 31 winners in season 24-25 will increase in the near future.

Proven currently has shares available in just two QTIS fillies this year. See links below…
