Proven Thoroughbreds has privately acquired a filly to race with trainer/breeder Steven O’Dea, who has given her a sizeable endorsement by retaining a 50% share and absorbing all costs until June 30.
The filly is by leading freshman sire SPILL THE BEANS from FAIRYTALE BELLE, making her a full-sister to the Proven-raced and O’Dea-trained HE KNOWS, who was city placed on debut in a 2YO race last month (see replay below):
O’Dea has developed a healthy opinion of HE KNOWS (see stable video below) and will saddle up the gelding in the second race at Eagle Farm this Wednesday, where he is currently second favourite.
SPILL THE BEANS remains atop the first season sire standings with less than three weeks to run on the 2019-20 season. It has been an exceptional effort by the late son of SNITZEL, given that his introductory service fee was a modest $11,000 inc GST.
His 12 winners so far include the stakes performed TUMBLER RIDGE, also trained by O’Dea.
“Very happy with what I’ve seen from this filly, she’s got a lovely smooth action. Her riders have commented to me that she gives them a really nice feel. I think she might be an early runner.” – Steve O’Dea
