FOXWEDGE fillies (FOXPLAY, VOLPE VELOCE, KENTUCKY MISS etc) look superior to his colts so it was with considerable glee we signed the receipt on Lot 627 for a mere $35k on the final day of the 2018 Inglis Classic Sale.

A strapping filly who caught the eye of trainer John Thompson, this daughter of three-time winner Snippet Street (by STREET CRY) looked more like a colt.

Snaring a bargain at this sale was not an easy task but this girl’s robust, muscular build and fluent action made her irresistible at the price. She was one of just six horses John identified on his shopping list so having her join the PROVEN team for such a minimum outlay was very pleasing.

Snippet Street has had just three foals to the races for two city winners and a placegetter including full brother HONOUR ‘N’ STRENGTH, a winner of four. With the OAKS winner GUST OF WIND in the family, the mighty SNIPPETS as maternal grandsire, and 21 winners from 24 foals to race on the page, there’s plenty going for this girl.

Securing attractive fillies with pedigree is a challenge today but this looks like one of the buys of the year for us.
