The Tony McEvoy-trained DREADLOCK followed up a six length barrier trial win with a successful debut at Goulburn on Thursday.

Ridden beautifully by Kerrin McEvoy, DREADLOCK travelled behind the speed before coming down the centre of the track in the straight to record a strong 1-1/2 length win over 1300 metres.

Perhaps the most impressive part of the race was the manner in which the three-year-old pulled away from his rivals over the concluding stages, suggesting he will be better suited over longer distances in the future.

The result brought up a race to race treble for trainer and jockey which is no easy feat at any meeting!

The son of Redoute’s Choice from Zabeel mare Melbourne Rose is a striking individual and based on Thursday’s performance there will be more wins to come.

DREADLOCK’s victory was Proven Thoroughbreds’ 26th winner for the calendar year.
