Joe Pride-trained three-year-old DOUBLE MAJOR began his career in the best way possible at Nowra’s Sunday meeting.

The late maturing son of EXCEED AND EXCEL rewarded his patient owners with a classy win over 1100m.

Rider Chad Lever had DOUBLE MAJOR poised midfield coming to the home turn and when asked for an effort, the gelding let down strongly to score by a long head.

The most encouraging aspect of the performance was DOUBLE MAJOR’s determination to stave off the fast finishing WILLY WILSON, who looked an ominous threat at the 100m mark.

As per racing’s strict COVID-19 bio-security measures, no owners were permitted on course, but no doubt DOUBLE MAJOR’s owners were sharing a celebratory drink at home!

Proven Thoroughbreds purchased DOUBLE MAJOR for $120k at the 2018 Inglis Classic Sale. He is our 10th winner for 2020 and 33rd for the 2019-20 racing season.
