At Canberra on Thursday, four-year-old gelding Destined To Win posted Proven Thoroughbreds’ third winner in the space of six days.

Destined To Win’s success followed the wins of Last Wish at Rosehill on Saturday and Pirolo at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

After a slashing fourth first-up over 1200 metres at Canberra last month, Destined To Win made a successful return to the nation’s capital over 1400 metres.

The gelding was always going to appreciate the extra 200 metres and considering he is already a winner at 1800 metres, trainer John Bateman expects the horse to improve even more as he rises in distance.

Full credit must go to Bateman, who has done a wonderful job with the horse since setting up at the late Guy Walter’s Goulburn base.

The son of Dane Shadow has been a model of consistency in his short career with two victories and four placings from 10 starts.

Jay Ford was in the saddle on Thursday and had the horse positioned up near the speed before holding all challenges in a blanket finish.
