Promising three-year-old SCALLOPINI is Proven Thoroughbreds’ highlight runner in the week ahead while a leading Victorian jockey has been booked for SESAR’s next start in Group 2 company.

SCALLOPINI (pictured) returns from a spell in the Japan Racing Association QTIS 3YO Plate (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday chasing his third win from five career starts. From an ideal barrier in four, the Steve O’Dea-trained son of SNITZEL should get a favourable run.

On the following day lightly-raced stablemates RECKLESS CHOICE and SIENNA ROSE head to the Sunshine Coast and Grafton respectively in pursuit of their maiden wins.

Next Wednesday at Canterbury is a possible venue for SO SPIRITED’s third-up run. The Joe Pride-trained three-year-old is crying out for a wet track but will likely have to wait a while longer as Sydney’s dry weather is predicted to continue.

On the same day, the O’Dea stable is set to roll out COOL SEQUENCE and the returning REAL STING at the Gold Coast midweek meeting. The former has been entered for the 1400m Class 6 Plate while the latter is due to contest the 1400m BM65 Handicap.

Hawkesbury Thursday could see as many as four Proven Thoroughbreds gallopers line up – John Bateman pair COUNTERFIRE and WYENDRA, as well as WATER LINE and GREENSPAN for John Thompson.

Our trialists in the week ahead will be the Pride-trained BROOK MAGIC at Warwick Farm on Monday, and Thompson two-year-olds LAMINGTON DRIVE and THE GOLDEN HIND at Kembla Grange on Wednesday.

In other Proven Thoroughbreds news, Group I-winning Victorian rider Damian Lane will take the reins on Group 3 winning colt SESAR in Saturday week’s Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1350m) at Doomben.
