More than 100 current and prospective owners attended last Sunday’s Kolora Lodge open morning where a wide selection of our 2020 Queensland yearlings were showcased.
A world class equine facility located on the outskirts of Brisbane, Kolora Lodge is one of the most reputable racehorse education properties in the Sunshine State, breaking in Proven stars SIR MOMENTS, GOTTA KISS and CANDIKA as well as the likes of HOUTZEN, SIZZLING and current Golden Slipper aspirant GLOBAL QUEST.
Proven Thoroughbreds and Steve O’Dea presented a bumper draft of 17 yearlings by top class sires like I AM INVINCIBLE, SEBRING, DUNDEEL, EXCEED AND EXCEL, ZOUSTAR, NOT A SINGLE DOUBT and WRITTEN TYCOON.

This week’s runners will be highlighted by BROOK MAGIC, who heads down to Melbourne for the Listed Bob Hoysted Stakes (1000m) at Flemington.
BROOK MAGIC’s Melbourne mission coincides with the Proven Thoroughbreds-sponsored Group 2 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m) at Randwick. It will be the third consecutive year Proven Thoroughbreds has hosted the race which commemorates the life of the late Guy Walter, who was an integral part of Proven Thoroughbreds before his passing in 2014.
BLACKBOOKER: MACCOMO finished an encouraging fourth on debut at Newcastle last week. The Kiwi-bred gelding bumped into a sharp maiden with the winner ICE BATH having contested a trio of stakes races as a two-year-old, including a three length defeat to the smart ANAHEED. For him to have finished within 2.5 lengths of ICE BATH at level weights was a pleasing effort. Expecting him to really come into his own over a mile.
Comment: First-up specialist tackling the Flemington straight for the first time. Suited by handicap conditions and looks a good opportunity to add some more black type to her CV.
Comment: Pulled too hard over 1800m last start and not surprisingly wilted late. Drops back in grade and is a winner at this track so looking for her to bounce back.
