Proven Thoroughbreds’ week ahead will begin with a quartet of runners across three meetings on Saturday.
At Randwick, the Joe Pride-trained BROOK MAGIC (pictured) continues her preparation in the 1000m BM78 while stablemate GAMBLESTOWN has accepted for the 1400m BM89 Handicap third-up from a spell.
Up in the sunshine state, consistent mare SORNJA contests the opening race of the day at the Gold Coast – the 1400m F&M 1MW Handicap. The Steve O’Dea-trained daughter of REAL SAGA is knocking on the door for a Saturday metropolitan win having placed in her first two runs this campaign.
Proven Thoroughbreds’ other Saturday representative will be ZEDFORCE for John Thompson at Kembla Grange. The lightly-raced mare tackles the BM64 1300m Handicap after having her original second-up run scuppered by a pump malfunction at Goulburn on Monday.
Then on Wednesday, another three horses will don the black and lime green silks – headlined by impressive last start winner RECKLESS CHOICE, who tackles the 1800m BM70 Handicap at the Gold Coast. The O’Dea-trained gelding will have another son of CHOISIR for company at the meeting – CHOREOGRAPH – who starts in the 1400m Class 3.
Midweek racing at Warwick Farm will see the return of MASTERATI from a freshen-up. The gelding has been nominated for both the 1400m BM76 Handicap and 1200m BM70 Handicap, with a decision to be made at acceptance time on Monday.
Pride will also step out SHOW ME THE HONEY, an impressive trial winner at Gosford earlier this month, in a 1000m Class 2 at Hawkesbury on Thursday.
Proven Thoroughbreds’ only trialists in the week ahead will be INVIGORATING and possibly HI ZERO at Doomben on Tuesday.
