INVIGORATING and SCALLOPINI combined for a Proven Thoroughbreds double at Doomben on Saturday, in a result that kept Steve O’Dea atop the Brisbane trainers’ premiership.

INVIGORATING (pictured) emerged from near the tail of the field in the 1200m QTIS 3YO Handicap to prevail in a blanket finish, just 10 days since her impressive debut win at Ipswich.

The daughter of Sizzling was the last horse sold from Proven Thoroughbreds’ 2017 crop of yearlings which proves that the speed in which a horse’s shares are sold has absolutely no bearing on their potential.

And with $102,750 banked in her first two career starts, the $2 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) at the Gold Coast in January is now a realistic possibility.

Mark Du Plessis was the pilot in INVIGORATING’s win and he was back in the winners’ stall four races later after expertly steering SCALLOPINI to a 1-1/2 length victory in the 1350m NMW Handicap.

The consistent son of Snitzel looked the winner a long way from home and deservedly picked up his first Saturday metropolitan success, enhancing his overall record to four wins and four placings from 11 starts.

SCALLOPINI brought up Proven Thoroughbreds’ 30th winner for the calendar year.
