Up to six of our horses could face the starter this week as we look to continue what has been a gala first half of 2019.
35 winners has us just one shy of our entire tally from last year and in pole position to eclipse our record year of 49 winners in 2017.
And in some exciting news, the talented RECKLESS CHOICE (pictured)returns to the trials this week in preparation for a much anticipated campaign that could culminate in a Magic Millions Stayers Cup berth. Trainer Steve O’Dea has been delighted with how the gelding is progressing and is looking forward to hopefully building on the horse’s record of five wins and eight placings from 17 starts.
BLACKBOOKER: DIPLOMATIC MISS is a three-year-old filly of ours making rapid progression through the grades. This preparation she has won three from four this preparation (by a combined 6.3 lengths) and has displayed a real liking for rain affected tracks. She’s one to watch.
Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners:
Ballina Tuesday July 16
Class 1 1305m:
HI ZERO
Steve O’Dea/Ron Stewart
Comment: Crosses the border in search of some valuable BOBS prizemoney after scoring at midweek level in Queensland first-up. Sure to be fitter and will appreciate going up in trip. Looks hard to beat.
Warwick Farm Wednesday July 17
BM72 1400m:
John Bateman/Shaun Guymer
Comment: Another horse looking to post back-to-back wins after successfully lumping 59.5kg at Hawkesbury. Gets some weight relief going to midweek grade and the jockey, who rode a pearler on him last start, stays aboard.
Gosford Thursday July 18
Maiden 1200m:
Joe Pride/Jay Ford
Comment: Overraced first-up which took the sting out of his finish. His effort to run fifth was still commendable and should relax better second-up here. Each-way chance.
Eagle Farm Saturday July 20
BM70 1000m:
Steve O’Dea/Jag Guthmann-Chester
Comment: Quirky old gelding who needs conditions in his favour to bring his best but Eagle Farm should suit his racing style.
Class 3 1300m:
Steve O’Dea/Jag Guthmann-Chester
Comment: Excellent return a fortnight ago when running on into third behind highly rated stablemate JAMI LADY. A bit of rain would aid her chances but can still win this contest off the back of her first-up run.
