BROOK MAGIC’s pursuit of some coveted black type continues at Randwick on Saturday in the June Stakes.
The Joe Pride-trained sprinter is a last start winner having scored first-up over the 1000m Kensington course on May 4.
With five wins and almost $300,000 in priemoney to her name, attaining a black type status is a logical aim for the $40,000 yearling buy.
Meanwhile, another four-year-old mare, WYENDRA (pictured), looks well placed to return to the winners’ circle at Wagga.
Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners:
Wagga Tuesday June 4
Class 2 1200m:
John Bateman/Blaike McDougall
Comment: Won impressively in C1 grade first-up but was a touch disappointing when getting too far back at Rosehill last outing. From barrier three on a suitable track, she can atone in C2 company.
Randwick Saturday June 8
Listed June Stakes 1100m:
Joe Pride/Blaike McDougall
Comment: With Sydney expecting some heavy showers this week, she will be greatly advantaged in this event, particularly down on the 53kg minimum. Probably requires a career peak to win but is coming off an excellent win first-up.
Randwick Saturday June 8
BM78 1200m:
Joe Pride/Jay Ford
Comment: Like BROOK MAGIC, this gelding will get conditions to suit with a heavy track likely to be served up. As always will need the speed on up front but is going well.
Hawkesbury Sunday June 9
3yo Maiden 1000m:
Joe Pride/Sam Clipperton
Comment: Comes back to a provincial maiden after being well beaten on debut at Warwick Farm last month. Hopefully will have derived improvement from the first start experience.
