When assessing whether a new sire has the capacity to stamp his stock with that special, genetic X-factor, we must respect history.
What commonalities have the really good ones had? And how do you evaluate those shared characteristics? Is pedigree the most critical? Or is physical type, temperament, constitution or race performance the primary ingredient?

An 80% strike rate of success is pretty tidy, unbelievable really. And STATE OF REST, whose oldest domestic stock are only yearlings, could well sharpen that figure if his first five runners in Europe are any guide. Three of them were victorious, including one by 9 lengths!
STATE OF REST was a helluva racehorse…..a Group 1 winner in four countries, from Moonee Valley to Royal Ascot! He’s the best gamble in Australia this year. Particularly as he is already by a domestic stallion in STARSPANGLED BANNER.
Of Proven’s pair, the filly with Matt Hoysted is sold out however Kerry Parker’s colt, the first foal of RUSSIAN GLAM (a daughter of Group 1 winner ABSOLUT GLAM), is outstanding value at $1,950 for 2.5%.
