The winter focus is on our Queensland Stable over the weekend with a swag of Matt Hoysted-trained runners headed by the promising LARADO at Doomben.
The lightly raced TORONADO 4yo tackles a Class 3 Plate in search of his first Saturday metropolitan scalp.
He’ll be joined by the consistent TOWN CRIER, who contests open company for the first time and the smart juvenile APEX PREDATOR, a city winner on debut last month.
The Hoysted stable has a busy few days with PONTEVICO journeying to Rockhampton Thursday in quest of QTIS bonuses whilst a trio of 3yo fillies will start at either the Gold Coast Saturday or the Sunshine Coast Sunday.
Meantime, Joe Pride sends HARD LINER to Canberra for a rare Wednesday meeting, 2yo debutante BUCCANEERING to Gosford the next day where he’ll be joined by his older stablemate NOBLE PRIDE and INDEFENSIBLE will be the lone Proven runner at Randwick Saturday.
A cramped week rounds out with three more Proven runners at Newcastle’s provincial card on Tuesday, the well-placed Pride prepared ELLE HUDSON, 3yo maiden GONDORFF and Kerry Parker’s lightly raced colt, HINZEL.
Our form analyst Nic Ashman is currently on annual leave so there will be no Sectional Review article, Saturday Tip or Form Previews for owners during July.
Information on all of Proven’s latest acquisitions can be viewed on our AVAILABLE HORSES page.

SIRE ON FIRE – ZOUSAIN
The celebrations may have been confined to the likes of Fannie Bay and Kilcoy but 9 winners for the week is a tidy effort for any sire.
BLACK BOOKER – COLUMBIA BLUE
Stiff on Saturday at Rosehill going down narrowly in an 1100m BM78. Caught a touch wide from the outside alley, over raced but still gave plenty in the straight to just miss. His turn will come in a similar event over the winter, especially on affected ground.
RUNNERS THIS WEEK
Canberra Wednesday July 8
Maiden Plate 1280m
HARD LINER
Joe Pride/Molly Burke
Comment: Last chance saloon for this well bred 3yo who has hitherto failed to live up to expectations. First run in blinkers, off a soft draw in a particularly thin race, he gets his chance here.
Gosford Thursday July 9
Maiden Plate 1100m

NOBLE PRIDE
Joe Pride/Jay Ford
Comment: Loomed briefly at his home track on debut and drops to provincial grade here. Query is the heavy ground but has the ability to improve sharply.

BUCCANEERING
Joe Pride/Jay Ford
Comment: Has trialled soundly and pulled up well enough to justify a trip to the races as the first Proven 2yo from the Pride camp to do so this season. Heavy track is also a big question mark but an interesting runner.
Rockhampton Thursday July 9
QTIS 3yo Handicap 1200m

PONTEVICO
Matt Hoysted/Boris Thornton
Comment: Seeking redemption following a first to last failure at the Sunshine Coast a month ago. Hopefully the long journey will pay handsome QTIS dividends for this lightly raced son of ASTERN.
Randwick Saturday July 11
BM78 Handicap 1000m

INDEFENSIBLE
Joe Pride/Alysha Collett
Comment: Inconsistent mare right up to this grade at her best. Loves the short courses though may not have similar regard for significantly affected tracks. If the Pride stable elect to run she can surprise.
Doomben Saturday July 11
2yo Handicap 1350m

APEX PREDATOR
Matt Hoysted/Jag Guthmann-Chester
Comment: Impressive at this track on debut. Likely to strike better ground in this and has to get another 150m from a sticky gate. Does look promising though and the long run to the first turn will help.
Class 3 Plate 1110m

LARADO
Matt Hoysted/Daniel Moor
Comment: Winner of 3 of his 5 starts that were all run over 1000m. First up tackles a longer trip from a wide gate but his trials have been impressive. A revealing run for this rising 5yo.
Open Handicap 1200m

TOWN CRIER
Matt Hoysted/Fiona Sandkuhl (a3)
Comment: Has been very consistent in three runs this campaign and nicely weighted going up to open company post carnival. Poised to run well.
Gold Coast Saturday July 11
Maiden Handicap 1200m

SUBPOENA COLADA
Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Has trialled well though a very late starter to the racing game. Capable of running very well in this.

CARPET RIDE
Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Disappointed on debut last preparation though her recent trial is suggestive of big improvement in a race like this provided she runs a strong 1200m.
Sunshine Coast Sunday Jul 12
BM58 Handicap 1200m

SEISMIC BOOM
Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Has been underwhelming since winning on debut at Eagle Farm last year. Big chance in a race of this type if she can reproduce the Ipswich run two starts ago.
Maiden Handicap 1200m

CARPET RIDE
Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Disappointed on debut last preparation though her recent trial is suggestive of big improvement in a race like this provided she runs a strong 1200m.

SUBPOENA COLADA
Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Has trialled well though a very late starter to the racing game. Capable of running very well in this.
Newcastle Tuesday July 14
BM64 Handicap 2200m

ELLE HUDSON
Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Beautifully placed here after some forward showings in turn. Looks tailor made for this.
Maiden Plate 1400m

GONDORFF
Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Rising in trip after a couple of sound runs to open his career. Bred to stay and has been very raw so will benefit from the experience on the spacious Newcastle circuit.
Midway Class 1 Handicap 1200m

HINZEL
Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Lightly raced SNITZEL colt who was midfield first up on the Kensington Track following an impressive victory on debut at Kembla last time in. Has since trialled nicely and should appreciate the extra 200m on the big track.
