As SUPER SETH prepares for his first season at stud in Australia, one burning question is coming into focus.
It’s not the rumoured $60million Coolmore parted with to bring the Waikato Stud patriarch across the Tasman.
Nor is it the service fee increase to $137,500 (which is probably justified after a quartet of Group 1 winners from his first two crops).
The question is if SUPER SETH will be compatible with DANEHILL blood, something he will be properly exposed to for the first time in Australia.
Having proven himself to be a potent match with daughters of SAVABEEL and O’REILLY, SUPER SETH remains largely untried with mares bred on the DANEHILL sireline.
In fact, 38% of SUPER SETH’s career winners and 54% of his stakes performers are out of SAVABEEL or O’REILLY mares.
This is significant because neither SAVABEEL or O’REILLY have any trace of DANEHILL or even his sire DANZIG.
The irony here is that consumers will be asked to pay a premium when SUPER SETH’s first Hunter Valley spawned yearlings hit the market.
So as of now, it makes far more sense to follow a tried-and-true cross with progeny of SUPER SETH which was reiterated last Saturday via metropolitan winners COUPLES RETREAT and KIA KAHA.
The SUPER SETH x WINTOUR colt is also out of a SAVABEEL mare and has broken in like a 2yo (Watch footage HERE).
Perhaps the real burning question should be if you want to buy into a winning formula now or pay more for an untested one in the future?
