The Matt Hoysted-trained BREAK FREE captured her fifth career win in thrilling fashion at Doomben’s midweek meeting.
Doomben is normally a track that favours on pace runners however such was the early speed of the 1200m Class 4 Plate, BREAK FREE was able to swoop down the outside and grab victory in the final stride.
To demonstrate how fast the leaders were going, the field’s final 200m was covered in 12.52 seconds on a good (4).
Clearly, BREAK FREE appreciates this kind of race shape, a sentiment shared by rider Jag Guthmann-Chester.
“The speed was hot early, and she was always in a good rhythm,” Guthmann-Chester said.
“She tracked up nicely when I needed her to and was really strong late.”
The 4yo daughter of CAPITALIST has now won at least one race in each of her preparations to date and with only 13 career starts to her name, one would expect there is more to come.
Matt is planning to freshen up BREAK FREE for a tilt at the $100,000 BM80 over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast’s feature meeting on July 4.
Proven Thoroughbreds’ tally of winners for season 25-26 stands at 35 with prizemoney a tick over $3million.
