Sibling bragging rights will go on the line at Randwick this Saturday with PRIVATE EYE and KING’S SECRET set to clash for the first time in their respective careers.

In a most unique set of circumstances, our stable veteran PRIVATE EYE will take on his younger half brother KING’S SECRET in Saturday’s Group 3 Hallmark Stakes (1200m).

Four years and millions of dollars in prizemoney separates them, but these two Joe Pride-trained geldings are very close in early betting markets. The class is obviously with big brother, but the young buck has fitness and distance in his favour. Fortunately the ownership groups of both horses are almost identical so whatever the outcome, it will be celebrated!

Proven will also be represented by FLYING BANDIT at Randwick on Saturday, providing the Kerry Parker-trained galloper can gain a start in the Group 3 JRA Plate (2000m) as the second emergency.

Elsewhere, Parker saddles up WILD THOUGHTS and the debutante WEEKDAY FLYER at Kembla’s Saturday fixture while OCEAN ZAR flies the flag for Proven and Matt Hoysted at Eagle Farm.

Information on all of Proven’s latest acquisitions can be viewed on our AVAILABLE HORSES page.

SIRE ON FIRE – BRUTAL

Had a run of five consecutive winners last month and last Saturday he bagged the WATC Derby winner SENTIMENTAL LEGEND as well as the ultra impressive CAVALRY at Newcastle. Currently sitting in 4th on the third season sire premiership with a higher winners to runners strike rate than any rival top 15 stallion.

BLACK BOOKER – BANG ON TIME

Showed admirable fight to break her maiden at just her second career starts at Newcastle last Saturday. Has always shown above average ability and appears to have the will to win to go with it. She has the scope to go through the grades now after an injury-enforced setback delayed the start to her career.

Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners

Doomben Wednesday April 15

3YO BM68 Handicap 1110m

CHAMPAGNE LANE

Matt Hoysted/Jag Guthmann-Chester

Comment: Classy filly resuming from a break. Boasts strong formlines from last preparation and looks well placed in this grade. Just needs some early luck from an awkward barrier.

Maiden Plate 2040m

SOLOACT

Matt Hoysted/Damien Thornton

Comment: On trial at the trip following two unplaced efforts over shorter trips. Showed some improvement last time going up to 1720m but probably needs to find a couple more lengths to be competitive in this.

Ipswich Thursday April 16

Class 5 Handicap 1100m

SHOT OF WHISKEY

Matt Hoysted/Daniel Moor

Comment: Resuming here after putting together four successive seconds last campaign. Has trialled impressively though he is coming off a minor bleeding attack. Fast, genuine horse but will need luck in the run to get his desired control.

Randwick Saturday April 18

G3 Hall Mark Stakes 1200m

PRIVATE EYE

Joe Pride/Nash Rawiller

Comment: Class act resuming from a spell. Continues to deliver preparation after preparation and recent trials indicate he’s still got it. Well placed under the weight conditions.

KING’S SECRET

Joe Pride/Andrew Adkins

Comment: Promising 4yo going through the grades nicely. Had excuses last start and was very good the start prior. Looks ready to peak third-up, albeit in a race where he is not treated very well at the weights.

G3 JRA Plate 2000m

FLYING BANDIT

Kerry Parker/Jay Ford

Comment: Needs to rediscover some form but gets his chance back on top of the ground and is at peak fitness now.

Eagle Farm Saturday April 18

BM70 Handicap 1600m

OCEAN ZAR

Matt Hoysted/Daniel Moor

Comment: Race shape against when coming back from 1400m to 1350m last time out. Third-up rising to a mile is more her go and gets back to her preferred track. Look for sharp improvement.

Kembla Saturday April 18

BM64 Handicap 1500m

WILD THOUGHTS

Kerry Parker/TBA

Comment: Much better suited back in grade after bumping into the eventual Provincial Championships Final winner last start. Races well here and must be a winning chance.

Provincial Maiden Handicap 1300m

WEEKDAY FLYER

Kerry Parker/TBA

Comment: On debut. Staying bred type who has shown ability in her trials but may lack the race experience to be winning at her first start.
