A strong Australian dollar relative to the NZ dollar made for a healthy market at the Centennial NZB Karaka Yearling Sale.
With the AUD trading around $1.14 NZD, Australian buyers were armed with more buying power than usual in 2026.
Proven left the sale with a trio of yearlings, one each for trainers Joe Pride, Charlotte Littlefield and Kerry Parker.
All three were acquired from book 1 of the catalogue for an aggregate spend of NZ$330,000 which equates to roughly $290,000 in AUD.
Attending the Karaka Sale every year is a no brainer for us. The primary reason being that NZ-breds make up approximately 8% of the racing population in Australia and yet win 21% of our Group 1 races!
Note all share prices include GST, flight and importation to Australia, insurance, veterinary costs and all regulatory fees.
