This week marks our first runner for Victorian trainer Charlotte Littlefield while a Joe Pride-trained galloper will be chasing our fourth stakes win for the season.
It would certainly be appropriate if Littlefield’s first winner in the Proven colours comes in the shape of LITTLE COINTREAU (pictured) at Caulfield on Saturday. The 6yo gelding makes his Victorian debut, having won four races and placed in 12 others for the Pride stable.
On the same day in Brisbane, Pride and Proven has a great chance of conjuring another Eagle Farm stakes win when ACCREDITED takes his place as favourite in the Listed Lough Neagh (1300m), following THE BLACK CLOUD’s Bribie Handicap triumph last Saturday.
ACCREDITED has certainly been beating down the door for a stakes scalp, with a benchmark rating of 102 and three stakes placings from his last five outings.
Meantime at Randwick, the Pride-trained KING’S SECRET contests the BM94 Handicap (1100m) where victory could also put him in the frame for future stakes races.
Other runners this week comprise INDEFENSIBLE and OTONO at Warwick Farm Wednesday, ALDEZOR (having his first start for Kerry Parker) at Goulburn Friday, LOVE REBEL at the Sunshine Coast’s Saturday fixture and ICONIC TREASURE in the Narooma Cup at Moruya on Sunday.

SIRE ON FIRE – TRAPEZE ARTIST
One of the feel good stories from last Saturday was the 2yo Inglis Nursery winner WHERE’S THE CIRCUS which was purchased for a measly $1250 online. We’ve sung the praises of TRAPEZE ARTIST as a sire of stayers but clearly he can also produce an early 2yo and a very inexpensive one at that! He’s now had 10 winners in the last 11 days.
BLACK BOOKER – THRESHOLD
Speaking of TRAPEZE ARTIST, an unraced 2yo son of his was an impressive jumpout winner for us last week. He goes by the name of THRESHOLD. Look out for him next preparation. For a replay of the jump out CLICK HERE.
Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners
Warwick Farm Wednesday December 17
BM72 Handicap 1000m
INDEFENSIBLE
Joe Pride/Tyler Schiller
Comment: Relished coming back to 1000m here last start, finishing an eye-catching second. Retains the services of Tyler Schiller and if she can get cover from a wide gate, can go one better.
BM64 Handicap 1600m

OTONO
Kerry Parker/Molly Bourke (a2)
Comment: Couldn’t quite wind up over this track and distance last start after having to change course. Can improve if she is able to make an uninterrupted run down the outside.
Goulburn Friday December 19
Maiden Handicap 1100m

ALDEZOR
Kerry Parker/Adrian Layt
Comment: First start for new stable. Trials encouraging and will appreciate the tempo of 1100m on a big track.
Randwick Saturday December 20
BM94 Handicap 1100m

KING’S SECRET
Joe Pride/Zac Lloyd
Comment: Promising 4yo coming off a sound first-up run behind LYLES and SNACK BAR, the latter of which was narrowly beaten at Randwick last Saturday. Plunges in weight and will be much improved. Big chance.
Eagle Farm Saturday December 20
Listed Lough Neagh Stakes 1300m

ACCREDITED
Joe Pride/Daniel Moor
Comment: Tried hard in the Festival Stakes but couldn’t quite reel in YORKSHIRE (who subsequently won the Ingham impressively). Back to 1300m suits and gets in well under the set weights and penalties conditions, albeit against a seasoned performer like ROTHFIRE.
Caulfield Saturday December 20
BM74 Handicap 1200m

LITTLE COINTREAU
Charlotte Littlefield/TBA
Comment: First start for new stable. Has been trialling up well for this and based on his Sydney form is well placed here, albeit with improvement to come over a touch further. Look for him to be running on.
Sunshine Coast Saturday December 20
Maiden Handicap 1200m

LOVE REBEL
Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Coming off a solid debut here when coming from back in the field to finish a narrow second to a long odds-on favourite. Better for that experience and goes up 100m which should be to her liking.
Moruya Sunday December 14
Narooma Cup 1300m

ICONIC TREASURE
Kerry Parker/TBA
Comment: Just peaked on his run second-up over 1200m at Warwick Farm last start. He’s a big gross horse that improves with racing. Third-up now (3:1-1-1) and gets to a distance he appears to be looking for. Each-way.
