As many as 14 runners will fly the flag for Proven Thoroughbreds this week, nine of which will step out on Saturday.
ACCREDITED, now an earner of more than $700,000, will be chasing a deserved stakes victory in the Group 3 Festival Stakes at Rosehill following two 2nds this campaign. He will be joined at the meeting by PRIVATE EYE’s little brother KING’S SECRET (pictured), who makes his first appearance since claiming the BOBS Horse Of The Year gong in July.
Down at Kembla, Kerry Parker saddles up a strong team of four for us, led by promising stayer ELIVINA in the 1400m Midway Class 1 Handicap second-up from a spell, while ALABAMA EXPRESS 3yo BROADWAY STREET makes his anticipated debut in the 1200m Maiden Plate. The quartet is rounded out by consistent gelding ICONIC TREASURE and three-time winning mare OTONO.
Meanwhile Doomben’s Saturday program will feature the Matt Hoysted duo SHOT OF WHISKEY and HEYOKA, the former of which is looking to snap a sequence of four 2nds when he contests the 1200m BM70 Handicap! Similarly, HEYOKA is aiming to convert three recent placings into an overdue win in the 1350m Class 6 Plate.
Proven’s other runners this week include COLUMBIA BLUE, who resumes for the Joe Pride stable as an odds-on favourite at Wyong on Wednesday.

SIRE ON FIRE – ARDROSSAN
Appears to have a real prospect in TAKEN who posted his fifth consecutive win at Caufield two Saturdays ago and that momentum continued at Pukekohe in NZ last Saturday with a stakes double via DE ARMAS (L Challenge Stakes) and ARDALIO (G3 Counties Bowl).
BLACK BOOKER – HIT THE SWITCH
Resumed at the Gold Coast last Saturday with a fast-finishing 2nd. Had to stand in the gates for a while as another horse played up and when they jumped he missed the start and was a clear last into stride. When this happens in a 1000m race, you may as well tear up your ticket, so for him to rattle home into 2nd with the best last 800m, 600m and 400m of the day was an excellent first-up performance. Can go one better next start over a touch further.
Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners
Wyong Wednesday November 26
3YO&UP Maiden Handicap 1000m
MIND BENDER
Joe Pride/Andrew Adkins
Comment: Resuming from initial campaign that returned a 4th and 8th. Fitted with three trials this time in and appears to have physically turned a corner. 1000m might be a bit sharp for her but can figure in the finish based on her debut run.
Class 1 Handicap 1100m

COLUMBIA BLUE
Joe Pride/Mitch Stapleford (a2)
Comment: Yet to finish outside the quinella in three starts and has looked good in two recent trials in preparation for his season return. Yet to race on anything better than a soft (6) so some query if the track stays firm.
Sunshine Coast Friday November 28
BM70 Handicap 1000m

TAKE A BOW
Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Won well two starts back before appearing to have her chance when fourth in city company last time. Back to the scene of her win 24 days ago and can reproduce if she jumps on terms.
Rosehill Saturday November 29
G3 Festival Stakes 1500m

ACCREDITED
Joe Pride/Andrew Adkins
Comment: Ready to peak third-up following two gallant defeats in strong races. Drawn 12 of 20 which isn’t ideal but is racing like he’s looking for this trip now and he has a class edge over the majority of this field.
BM78 Handicap 1100m

KING’S SECRET
Joe Pride/Andrew Adkins
Comment: Exciting 4yo returning from a campaign that yielded three Saturday metropolitan wins and BOBS Horse Of The Year honours. Brought up to the mark with three solid trials and only needs a bit of luck from the outside barrier to be giving this an almighty shake.
Doomben Saturday November 29
BM70 Handicap 1200m

SHOT OF WHISKEY
Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Racing in career best form, evidenced by four consecutive 2nds in fast run races. Drawn a wide alley which makes his task significantly more difficult however if the rain arrives, it could play into his hands.
Class 6 Plate 1350m

HEYOKA
Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Freshened since finishing 3rd over this track and trip in No Metro Win company. Trialled over 1200m last week which should have her primed for this assignment, albeit in a race where she isn’t favoured under the set weights conditions.
Kembla Saturday November 29
Class 1 Handicap 1400m

ELIVINA
Kerry Parker/TBA
Comment: Ran home resolutely over this track and trip on Melbourne Cup day, only tiring late to finish within 0.8 lengths of the winner. Will strip much fitter for that is a winner second-up previously.
Provincial BM68 Handicap 1200m

ICONIC TREASURE
Kerry Parker/TBA
Comment: Finished last on resuming at Canterbury a couple of weeks ago but was doing his best work late in a fast run race and was only 3.5 lengths from the winner. Is a two-time winner second-up and this is an attractive drop in grade.
Maiden Plate 1200m

BROADWAY STREET
Kerry Parker/TBA
Comment: Debutant that has looked good at the trials, the latest of which he wasn’t knocked around behind some seasoned metropolitan performers. Gives the impression he will run at least a mile so 1200m first-up should suit and has a home track advantage.
BM64 Handicap 1600m

OTONO
Kerry Parker/TBA
Comment: Pulled up coughing after running 7th of 8 over 2000m at Hawkesbury. Back to a mile on her home track gives her a good chance to bounce back.
Sunshine Coast Sunday November 30
Maiden Handicap 1800m

TINTAURA
Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Checked mid-race and couldn’t make up the necessary ground over a mile here two weeks ago. Racing as though she will appreciate 1800m and can hopefully position closer in the run.
